Improving the quality of educational programs

In January-February 2021, the students and teaching staff of the Department of Commodity Research, Commercial Business and Goods Expertise joined a number of events.

To improve the quality of training for higher education applicants on the educational program “Commodity Science and Expertise in Customs”, specialty 076 “Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activity”, Knowledge Areas 07 “Management and Administration”, guarantor of the second (master’s) level of higher education is Natalia Omelchenko, Professor of the Department of  Commodity Research, Commercial Business and Goods Expertise of the ER ICSTT and guarantor of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education Anna Brailko, Associate Professor of the Department of Commodity Research, Commercial Business and Goods Expertise, in January-February 2021 joined a number of events.

On January 27, 2021, a webinar was held on the topic “Information for the Entrepreneurs About Market Surveillance in the Field of Non-Food Products: What You Need to Know and How to Act?” (Based on a communication platform on technical regulation).

The event was held on the initiative and with the support of the Department of Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, Department of Technical Regulation and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Economy; GIZ project, Application and implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the field of trade. The participants of the event received an explanation of the main provisions of the legislation on state market supervision, the peculiarities of its application in practice, the importance of developing a system of market supervision to ensure the safety of non-food products and fair competition. The speakers of the event were representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the State Food and Consumer Service, the State Labor Service and the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations. The Department of Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, for a better understanding by business representatives of their rights and their practical use in the implementation of state market supervision, presented a Leaflet on market supervision with a visualization of the main options for interaction between entrepreneurs and market supervisors.

On February 11, 2021, we took part in the second cycle of webinars (on the Zoom platform) for guarantors of educational programs and quality assurance groups. The webinar was hosted by the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. During the event, participants received answers to pressing questions that arise in the process of accrediting educational programs.

On February 16, 2021, Guarantors joined the lecture “When Good Students Make Wrong Decisions: Why Students Cheat” (on the Zoom platform), lecturer: Dr. David Rettinger, Ph.D. The lecture was organized by the American Council for International Education as part of the project “Initiative for Academic Integrity and Quality in Education”, in partnership with the International Center for Academic Integrity. Violation of academic virtue is an existential threat to higher education. True academic virtue requires an academic culture that fosters genuine learning and mutual respect. The development of academic integrity must be approached holistically, with a focus on developing personal ethics, best teaching practices, and continuous growth thinking.

February 25, 2021 took part in the online seminar “Modern Trends in the Economy and the Role of Business Education” (on the Zoom platform). The seminar was held with the aim of disseminating information about new global trends and risks in the economy, adjusting educational programs in the variable part and strengthening the ideological positions of scientific and pedagogical workers of higher education institutions.

Veronika Vorozhbit, internal stakeholder of the educational program “Commodity Science and Expertise in Customs”, applicant for the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education, specialty 076, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activity of the educational program “Commodity Science and Expertise in Customs”, ER ICSTT, February 5 2021 took part in the online training “Remote Marketing Tools” (on the Zoom platform), the trainer was Yulia Shakula. The training was intended for representatives of micro, small and medium-sized businesses who wish to master the tools of distance marketing to promote their own project. Veronika Vorozhbit received a certificate of participation in the training, which was held with the assistance of the USAID Project “Economic Support to Eastern Ukraine”. At the same time, for her successful participation in the training, she was awarded a gift certificate for an individual consultation with a trainer and the possibility of an expert assessment of her business idea.

Consequently, the systematic participation in such events of the guarantors of the educational program “Commodity Science and Expertise in Customs” and internal stakeholders of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education and the second (master’s) level of higher education is necessary to update the content of education based on scientific achievements and modern practices and priorities of the external stakeholders and clarification of program learning outcomes, taking into account the needs of stakeholders and current trends in the labor market.
