Defense of the qualification works

On January 25, 2021, defense of the qualification works of the 2nd-year undergraduate orientalists took place at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

The research topics of undergraduates touched on such topics as “Lexical borrowings in modern Chinese: origin and classification”. “National specifics and features of translation of phraseological units of literary origin in modern Chinese”. “The evolution of ways of expressing complement in the history of the Chinese language” and so on. While working on the research, the undergraduates did a lot of work with sources, showed perseverance, determination and the best features of the researcher, such as the ability to analyze, synthesize, and be creative.

During their defense, they demonstrated high erudition in the field of linguistics and good skills and abilities to speak Chinese. All undergraduates presented the results of their research with dignity, and some of them already see prospects for further research. For example, Olga Olehivna Korinska, a master’s student, plans to further analyze lexical borrowings that function in the Internet discourse of modern Chinese youth. Lolita Ihorivna Kolesnikova, a master’s student, intends to analyze ways of expressing cultural concepts by means of the Chinese language. At the end of the defense, the examination commission wished the undergraduates and their superiors further success and fruitful scientific work!
