Books for the university

Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University received the first part of a tranche of unique books.

On the Day of Unity of Ukraine, our university was visited by high-ranking guests with a significant gift. The Chairman of the Board of the NGO “All-Ukrainian Initiative” Yurii Kosenko, together with the head of the regional organization of this NGO Oleh Yakubov, brought a large amount of unique literature to the university. This visit took place thanks to the cooperation of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism with this organization. “All-Ukrainian Initiative” has been distributing books both in Ukraine and abroad for many years. According to guests, they are issued for public funds for free distribution.

Thus, the university received several dozen titles of books, including historical literature, photo albums, literature devoted to the acute issue of our time, books dedicated to the biographies of prominent Ukrainians, for example, Lesia Ukrainka, Kvitka Tsisyk, Vasyl Stus, children’s literature, explanatory dictionaries and much more.

Among the rare editions we have got the book “Defense of the Luhansk Airport”. The books “Heavenly Hundred”, “Ukrainian Revolution of 1917”, “History of Ukraine in Maps”, “Without Panic”, the book of Japanese writer Hiraaki Kuromiya “To Understand Donbas”, Serhii Zakharov, “Hole 2014” are also unique. …

It is also interesting that the literature of Yurii Kosenko personally came to our library. “The book “Ignorance Donbas ”consists of two parts. The first part is devoted to the nature of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and the second one to the Ukrainian space. It presents photographs of various museum exhibits, which clearly prove that Donetsk and Luhansk regions are a Ukrainian land with long traditions. He is the compiler of two more volumes “Litopis of the Ukrainian Donbas” and “Photolitopis with Unique Photos”.

“We hope that these books will benefit both students and teachers, who will be able to expand and deepen their knowledge and carry it further,” Yurii Kosenko noted. 

The Director of the Library of the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Maria Pochinkova noted that this gift is especially important, because we received it in the year of the 100th anniversary of the university. These books and copies have significant educational potential and will be useful to students and teachers of all specialties.

The Rector Serhii Savchenko also spoke about the significance of this tranche. “These books are difficult to acquire, because they were issued in small editions. This is a serious contribution to the educational and upbringing process of modern students. I am very pleased that on this special day the “All-Ukrainian Initiative” congratulated the university in such a way. Such an event will forever remain in the history of our Alma Mater and in the development of the scientific library”.

The book is the best gift, especially on the Day of Unity of Ukraine. We unite and develop!
