Happy Day of Unity of Ukraine!
22.1.2021
Dear students, teachers, colleagues! Please accept my sincere congratulations on the Day of Unity of Ukraine!
On January 22, 1919, the Ukrainians reunited on their land in a single Ukrainian state. It was a bold manifestation of the people’s will for self-determination and consolidation, evidence of the political maturity of the nation. The Act of the Union of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic with a yellow-blue embroidered ribbon went down in the history of the country as a holiday of Independence and Unity of Ukraine. It is a symbol of the inextricable connection between all generations of fighters for its freedom, demonstrating to the whole world the indivisibility of the Ukrainian land and the inflexibility and solidity of the nation.
Now our state must again defend territorial integrity, freedom and independence. We have no right to forget the feats of the participants in the Revolution of Dignity, ATO participants, volunteers, doctors, activists who did not hesitate to put their lives on the field of the country’s existence.
On this majestic day, we must support and continue the heroic achievements of our ancestors; meet expectations and become pride for our descendants. No wonder our university bears the proud name of Taras Shevchenko. Persistence, dedication and fortitude are key in our lives. The time has come to realize oneself as full-fledged masters of the state – demanding of the authorities, however, not passive in their expectations, but active for their own welfare.
We sincerely congratulate you on this day! We wish you peace, prosperity, good health and strength in professional activity. May your scientific and creative successes strengthen our country both in the Ukrainian and international arenas.
Unity is our strength! Therefore, glory to Ukraine and its people!
Respectfully yours, Chairman of the Academic Council Vitalii Kurylo
and Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Serhii Savchenko
