Project implementation

The Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences participates in the implementation of the project for the creation and organization of the “School of volunteers for work with children in conflict with the law”.

Recently, there has been a lot of talk in society about volunteering. Of course, they associate this activity with charity and philanthropy. But in fact, volunteering is much broader than the understanding of charity, because it provides more opportunities for those who do it. Who are volunteers? Volunteers are those who, of their own free will, do useful work or provide services to help others. At the same time, volunteer activity expands the circle of acquaintances, deepens professional knowledge, and gains self-confidence. The role of volunteers is extremely important in many organizations. Especially when the functions of volunteer work are closely related to the future specialty.

At the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences, the Department of Social Work, a project is being implemented with the support of UNDP and the All-Ukrainian Public Center “Volunteer” to create and organize “Volunteer Schools for work with children who are in conflict with the law ”. Selected students will be able to acquire knowledge of the peculiarities of communication and conflict resolution through conflict-free communication, employment skills, art-therapy methods of working with children in conflict with the law, according to the “equal to equal” method.

The problem of children in conflict with the law is very urgent; most of them, due to the inconsistency of prevention services and limited preventive actions and resources, join the ranks of criminals and continue to commit crimes. Therefore, it is relevant to prevent the commission of misconduct, create trusting communication and involve them in participation in educational activities and socially useful activities. At the end of the School, volunteers will conduct at least 3 preventive training sessions, including those related to art therapy work, for children in conflict with the law.

The partners of the project are the Starobilsk Regional Center of Social Services for Families, Children and Youth and the branch of the State Institution “Probation Center” in the Luhansk region.

At the moment, online training of volunteers is underway with the involvement of experts, and in parallel a competition has been announced for the name of the volunteer squad and the creation of the emblem of the volunteer squad.

Another goal of the project, perhaps the most important one, is to promote the spread of volunteer activities, to actualize attention to the problem of children prone to delinquency, and to strengthen human values in society – a tolerant attitude, understanding everyone without prejudices (false, negative thoughts), and avoiding any discrimination, respect for the honor and dignity of a person.
