Glorious history of the History Faculty

The Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences continues to replenish the section “History Faculty in Photos”.

Dear friends! We present to your attention our new project, timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of our native Alma Mater: “History Faculty in Photos”. The dynamic history of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences, as one of the leading structural subdivisions of our university, is rich in various important events for us. The old yellowed photos reflect successes of History Faculty in various spheres. Our illustrious teachers, still young, and full of hopes for the future, look at us, descendants. Someone will recognize themselves in the photo – the first lectures and seminars, scientific conferences, concerts, archaeological expeditions. All this is the glorious history of the “legendary History Faculty”.

Today’s article is about the “pearl” of the Faculty’s life – the Olvia archaeological expedition. For more than fifty years, the Luhansk archaeological team has been sent with hope and optimism to explore the “happy” ancient Greek city on the banks of the famous estuary.

Over the long 50-year history of the archaeological detachment, the leaders were outstanding scientists-researchers, real “History Faculty members”: Volodymyr Yakovlev, Serhii Kharchenko, Oleksandr Naboka.

At the same time, students-historians, near the friendly Olvia fire, get the opportunity to explore themselves. The photographs capture the “dawn” of  Faaculty’s Olvia, the birth of its glorious traditions and modern Olviopolites.
