Lecture on the History of the Kozaks
14.10.2015
The first-year students of IPP have learned about the history of Starobilshchyna.
Before the Day of Defender of Ukraine that is celebrated on the saint’s day of the Mantle of Our Lady and the Day of Ukrainian Kozatstvo students of all specialities of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology had a lecture on history of Kazatstvo of Starobilshchyna. The lection was held by the Senior Lecturer of the Department of History of Ukraine, Candidate of Political Sciences Anastasiia Oleksandrivna Sycheva.
“The city of Starobilsk has more than three hundred years history, great part of which is closely related to Kozatstvo. The Kozaks were the first who settled in and developed our land”, – noted Anastasiia Oleksanddrivna.
In 1686 there were a lot of Kozaks on the banks of Derkul, Yevsuh and Aidar. A number of settlements appeared along our river. The Kozaks from Hetmanshchyna founded a settlement Stara Bila on the left bank of Aidar. The Kozaks from Right-Bank Ukraine settled in the area where Aidar joined its left feeder – the river of Shulha. The founders of Shulhinka dug a moat around it and protected it with a picket fence. There is information that Kozak village Pidhorok was founded in the same place as Stara Bila by the people from Poltava and Chernihiv Hetman Kozaks regiments in 1686.
Today it is especially important to remember the historical past of our native land and our people. That is why the students were very interested in the lecture and asked a lot of additional questions.
