World AIDS Day
1.12.2020
On December 1, 2020, the world community marks World AIDS Day.
Every year, since 1988, humanity has united with the goal of social tolerance and increased exchange of information about the pandemic, which poses a serious threat to human life. The immunodeficiency virus was officially discovered on June 5, 1981 at the United States Centers for Disease Control. Since then, people have been trying to stop its spread. According to the World Health Organization, about 42 million people live in the world with HIV, most of whom are not even aware of their disease.
Due to quarantine restrictions at our university, events dedicated to this day were held online. Olena Dukhova, Head of the Student Social Service Sector of the Legal Department, distributed an information brochure “Warned is therefore protected” between the administration, structural divisions and departments.
“Don’t give AIDS a chance!” – under this slogan will be held a week of free, anonymous testing for HIV in the office “Trust”, which is located in the central district polyclinic. Students and staff of the university will be able to take an HIV / AIDS test and make sure that they are healthy during 15 minutes.
The symbol of this day is the red ribbon. All people wear it on the cuffs of their jackets, the hem of their hats as a sign of uniting the efforts of people against this disease. It is a symbol of compassion, support and hope for an AIDS-free future, as well as a desire to attract the attention of young people, educate the public about HIV transmission and highlight the need for testing.
AIDS is not a sentence, you can live with it and even enjoy life. On this day, people should think about the value of human life and health. Only together, by uniting efforts, humanity can confront global problems and continue to develop and prosper. Take care of yourself and your loved ones!
