Bronze medalists of the Olympic Games

The section “Famous Students-Athletes of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports” is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of LTSNU.
In the section “Retro-sport” – XXV Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
Our students won 2 bronze medals.
Andrii Serdinov – Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Athens in swimming (men’s 100m butterfly).
World record holder in the men’s 100m butterfly. Among sporting achievements: bronze medalist of the World Championships (2003, 2005) in the men’s 100m butterfly. He is a bronze medalist in the 4×100 m mixed relay at the World Championship (2006), European Champion (2004, 2006), Champion of the Summer World Universiade (2007) at three distances (50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 4x100m mixed relay), multiple Champion of Ukraine.
He specializes in swimming style “butterfly” at 50 and 100 meters. For his excellent swimming technique, the world community called him “aesthete of butterfly”.
For high sporting achievements he was awarded the Order of Merit, third degree (2003) and the Order of Courage, third degree (2004).
After completing his sports career, he worked as the director of the Water Sports Palace of the SC “Meteor” in Dnepropetrovsk city. Then in 2013 he became the head coach of the Ukrainian national swimming team.
Tetiana Tereshchuk-Antipova is a Ukrainian athlete, bronze medalist of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in 400 m hurdles, a participant in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.
Tatiana Tereshchuk-Antipova started her performances at the 2004 Olympics with the fourth place in the qualifying race. This allowed her to reach the semifinals, but to one of the last places. The Ukrainian finished the semifinal race in fourth place, although at the same time she improved Ukraine’s record in the women’s 400m hurdles – 53.37 s.
In the final race until the very last moment she fought for the “silver” with the Romanian Ionela Tirle, but lost to her in the finish line. The Ukrainian lost to the Romanian only by 0.06 s and showed a time of 53.44 s.
Sports achivments:
- 1997 – World Champion at the Student Games;
- 1998 – European Champion;
- 1999 – World Championship (7th place);
- 2003 – World Championship (5th place).
Tetiana went to the Olympic medal gradually: so at the Olympics in Atlanta (1996) she took 10th place. At the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000) 5th place and only in Athens (2004) won a bronze medal. She was awarded the Order of Princess Olga of the third degree.
