The university students joined an interactive online marathon.
Every year in Ukraine since November 25, the All-Ukrainian action “16 days against violence” is held. The goal of the action is to draw public attention to the problems of overcoming domestic violence, child abuse, combating human trafficking and protecting women’s rights.
This year, students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University joined the interactive online marathon from the ICF “Ukrainian Public Health Foundation” to talk about topics that concern us all.
The online marathon is organized as part of the United Nations Peace Recovery and Development Program, which is implemented by four UN agencies: United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), United Nations Population Fund ( UNFPA) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The program is supported by thirteen international partners: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the US Embassy in Ukraine, as well as the governments of the UK, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.
A total of 100 people took part in the event, including pupils and school teachers, employees of social services of the Starobilsk district and students of our university. Olena Dukhova, Head of the Student Social Services Sector of the Legal Department, says: “Unfortunately, this real problem is a common phenomenon in the modern world. It is not only about physical, but also about moral and psychological violence. Therefore, we must not hesitate, we must defend our rights, do not keep silent and do not hide”.
Thanks to this training, those present understood that there are no desperate situations. Protection, help, support – a person has the right to all this. The most important thing is that a person is not afraid to talk about it. Take care of yourself and your family!
