The teachers and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University express their sincere condolences on the premature death of Yurii Poluliashchenko.

On November 25, 2020, the Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports, Professor of the Department of Olympic and Professional Sports, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Yurii Poluliaschenko passed away.

He began his career in 1970 as a coach-teacher, head of sports organizations. Since 2003, Yurii Mykhailovych headed the regional physical culture and sports organization “Spartak”. Since 2007, he worked part-time at the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”, since 2013 – Associate Professor of the Department of Olympic and Professional Sports.

Since October 2014 – Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports. Since September 2020 – Professor of the Department of Olympic and Professional Sports, actively engaged in scientific activities.

For his active work, Yurii Mykhailovych was repeatedly awarded with insignia of the regional and all-Ukrainian levels. So, in 1998 he received the award “Excellence in Education of Ukraine”. In 2007 he was awarded the title “Honorary Worker of the PCS of Ukraine”. 2010 – Certificate of Honor from the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. Yurii Mykhailovych received the honorary award of the Luhansk Regional State Administration and the regional council “For the Development of the Region” in 2012. 2015 – Certificate of Merit of the Department of Education and Science of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. In 2018 he received the Certificate of Honor from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

It is impossible to find words when the irreparable happens – the death of a famous person. Yurii Mykhailovych was a recognized scientist, wise leader, professional teacher and trainer, and a good mentor. His optimism, openness, sincerity, intelligence and dedication to his beloved work will forever remain in our hearts.

We bow our heads low before his departure into eternity and express our sincere condolences to his family and friends. We share pain and sorrow with you. Bright memory…
