Lecture from representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine

Students of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences attended a lecture from representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM). 

Recently, students of the Educational and  Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences listened to a lecture from representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) online. It was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the signing of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security”.

The unanimous adoption by the UN Security Council of Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security” in 2000 was a historic moment: the Security Council focused on the role of women in wars, conflicts and peacebuilding, emphasizing the risk of becoming victims of armed conflicts and, at the same time, important the potential of women as participants in peace processes.

36 OSCE participating States have national action plans for the implementation of the Resolution (16 countries – 3rd or 4th).

On October 28, 2020, the Government of Ukraine decided to approve the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security” for the period until 2025, developed by the Ministry of Social Policy in close cooperation with central and local executive authorities, international partners and 18 public organizations.

The lecture was interesting and informative, the audience asked lively and interesting questions, which the lecturers answered with pleasure.

Meetings of OSCE SMM representatives in Ukraine with our institute have become regular, and when quarantine restrictions related to COVID-19 are lifted, our friends will come to the university.
