Session within the framework of the project “Garden City for Communities” in Lviv

Olena Bordiugova, a lecturer of the Department of Gardening and Ecology, took part in an educational trip to Lviv city as part of the “Garden City for Communities” project.
The program within the framework of the project “Garden City for Communities” was very intense and included visits to various locations, had a versatile content that was interesting for the participants – representatives of various professions and positions.
On the first day, the participants got the opportunity to attend the lectures of the Director of the Institute for Development of Lviv Oleksandr Kobzarev “Development and Implementation of Urban Strategies, Research, Forums, International Projects” and the head of the Information Technology Department of the Development Department of the Lviv City Council Olena Gunko “Experience of Working with Open Data”.
The lectures were devoted to the consideration of planning issues, tools and techniques for creating strategies for the city’s development, as well as communication between the city government and residents. In the afternoon, an excursion was held for the participants, which was prepared by the Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi Centerof the Ukrainian Catholic University. After the excursion, Oleg Yaskiv, director of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Center, spoke about the basics of leadership in Ukraine, and Dmytro Sherenvogsky, a lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University, talked about democracy and participation.
The second day was even more eventful according to the program. The participants attended a presentation by the chief architect of Lviv Anton Kolomiitsev about the experience of integrated planning, spatial and architectural development of their city. During the lecture, information was provided on the features of participation in urbanized projects and the rules for interaction with international experts in the field of urban planning. After the lecture, the participants were offered a very interesting excursion to public spaces, which was led by Anton Kolomiitsev, at the end of the day everyone attended a presentation about the experience of MoloDvizu: “Experience of Attracting Youth” by Roman Tsudnyk, head of the department for work with youth.
The trip to Lviv left incredible impressions and useful knowledge for the participants, which will be used to develop and improve their communities.
