In memory of Anatolii Oleksiiovych Klymov

On November 3, 2020, the life path of the Honorary Professor of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine, the famous Luhansk ethnographer Anatolii Oleksiiovych Klymov was interrupted.
Until the last day Anatolii Oleksiiovych took an active part in scientific, educational and educational work. His role in the preparation of the fundamental publication dedicated to the centenary history of our University is invaluable.
Unfortunately, the sudden and premature death interrupted the large-scale plans of Anatolii Oleksiiovych.
Since 1970, he devoted most of his life to our University. Over the years, Anatolii Oleksiiovych worked as an Assistant, Senior Teacher, Associate Professor, Professor, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine. In difficult times of political and economic instability of the formation of Ukraine as a state, he was the Rector of the University (1989 – 1997). Despite all the difficulties of that turbulent era, Anatolii Oleksiiovych managed to preserve the educational and scientific potential of one of the leading educational institutions in Ukraine.
All these years Anatolii Oleksiiovych was actively engaged in scientific work. He is the author of more than two hundred scientific articles, textbooks, monographs on topical problems of the history of Ukraine, including the Luhansk region. 16 Ph.D. theses were prepared and defended under his supervision.
The fruitful activity of Anatolii Oleksiiovych was repeatedly noted by state and departmental awards, among which: Badge “Excellence in Public Education”, Order “For Merit” III degree, Honorary title “Honored Worker of Public Education of Ukraine”, Medal of the All-Ukrainian Society “Education” named after Taras Shevchenko “Builder of Ukraine”.
The teaching staff of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” deeply mourns and expresses sincere condolences to the family. The memory of Anatolii Oleksiiovych Klymov will forever remain in the glorious history of our university.
