The Rector was elected

Applicants for education, teachers and staff of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University have chosen the Rector.
On October 20, 2020, the university held the election of the Rector. The Organizing Committee for the election of the Rector was headed by the chairman of the Academic Council Vitalii Kurylo, and the main election commission was headed by the chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization Volodymyr Moroz. All teachers and elected representatives from students and staff not classified as scientific and pedagogical, voted at six polling stations located in Starobilsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne, Shchastia, Kreminna and Poltava. The polling stations worked in compliance with all the necessary anti-epidemic measures.
A total of 680 voters took part in the voting. At the polling station No. 7, voting booths and ballot boxes were installed on the first floor of the educational building No. 7. Voting started at 9:00 and lasted until 15:00.
The vote counting procedure lasted for about an hour; at 16.00 voting results were announced: 663 In favour, 13 Against.
The chairman of the election commission, chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization Volodymyr Moroz noted: “The elections were held without violations. No statements or complaints were received during the voting. In general, there were 791 people who had the right to take part in the elections”.
According to the results of the secret ballot by a majority of votes, the collective entrusted the right to head the university to Serhii Savchenko, who was the only candidate for this position.
In his program for the post of Rector, Serhii Viktorovych noted that the main goal of his program is to ensure the further development of the university as the higher educational institution of the classical type, which operates in conditions of movement from the temporarily occupied territory, improving the quality of education, scientific, innovative activities, a combination of modern domestic and foreign achievements, acceleration of integration into the world scientific and educational space.
In particular, the work plans include intensification of cooperation with employers, participation in the All-Ukrainian experiment to introduce a dual form of student training into the educational process; start introducing English-language master’s programs into the educational process; creation of a university-wide program for the development of electronic textbooks and manuals for training programs for specialists of various educational levels; expanding the functioning of its own scientific publishing activities, etc.
The university staff supported the candidacy of Serhii Savchenko for the post of Rector, seeing him as a highly professional leader. We wish Serhii Viktorovych continuous movement forward, successful implementation of all plans and ideas. Let him be accompanied by understanding and support from colleagues, and let his professional activity be full of creative victories!
