Humanitarian aid to fire victims

The Student Social Service together with volunteers of LTSNU delivered humanitarian aid to the victims of the fires in the Luhansk region.

On September 30, large-scale fires began in natural ecosystems in the Luhansk region. During the week, the SPSS units tried to stop the fire, which was wiping thousands of hectares of forest. As a result, residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged, people died.

The Student Social Service headed by Olena Dukhova together with the volunteers could not avoid grief and help the victims. On October 2, a collection of humanitarian aid was organized, which included things, personal hygiene products and food. A lot of people responded: the administration, teachers, staff, students of our Alma Mater, local residents, private enterprise “Malysheva”, as well as residents of the district who sent things by mail.

On October 7, the collected humanitarian aid was handed out to residents of the settlements of Muratovo, Kapitanovo and Voronovo of the Novoaidar District. The people received the necessary clothes, shoes, bed linen, pillows, blankets and packages, which included food and personal hygiene products.

Thanks to everyone who responded and took part in the collection of humanitarian aid. In this difficult time, you have proved that the main thing is to remain Human and help those in need. Your petty help for someone is the most necessary and vital.

    Participation in the Training Session within the Framework of the “Leadership Academy for Internationalization” Program

    On November 22–23, Liudmyla Ovcharova, Head of the International Education Sector at the Department of International Relations, is participating in the training “Fundamentals of Ukrainian-American Academic Partnerships,” organized by EducationUSA Ukraine. This event represents a significant milestone in supporting and advancing higher education in Ukraine by bringing together experts and professionals committed to enhancing international collaboration.

     

    The training program is centered on the pressing challenges and opportunities that universities face in a globalized world. Participants have a unique opportunity to strengthen their intercultural communication skills, gain deeper insights into the nuances of building partnerships with American colleagues, and explore new horizons for cooperation.

     

    The first day of the training offered vibrant impressions and profound insights. Participants were introduced to the EducationUSA team, who shared their expertise and vision for the future of international education. Particular attention was given to the workshop “Understanding National Culture and Its Effects on Business Practices,” which provided an in-depth exploration of how national cultures influence professional communication and business practices. This session was led by Artem Kliuchnikov, a distinguished EducationUSA representative and expert in cross-cultural leadership studies.

     

    Another highlight of the day was the workshop “Hidden Challenges of Adapting to Another Culture.” This session became a true “eye-opener” for many participants, shedding light on often-overlooked aspects of cultural adaptation that significantly impact the effectiveness of international interactions. Participants delved into understanding how cultural peculiarities can affect communication, trust-building, and the development of professional relationships. The discussion was enriched by real-world case studies, illustrating these challenges in practice.

     

    The workshop emphasized the importance of recognizing personal cultural biases and adapting behavior in multicultural settings. Participants discussed how differences in values, communication styles, and work approaches can influence joint activities and explored ways to transform these challenges into opportunities for growth.

     

    The first day of the training became a pivotal stage in the participants’ professional development, equipping them with tools for effective intercultural interaction, which is fundamental to fostering successful academic partnerships.
