Knowledge Day
15.9.2020
Today, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University held the Knowledge Day for first-year students.
September 15, 2020 is a defining day for young students of our university. On this day, Alma Mater solemnly accepted them into the large family of university students, observing the sanitary and epidemiological standards associated with the spread of COVID-19.
The celebrations dedicated to the start of the new academic year began with an introductory lecture, during which students got acquainted with the educational traditions of our university. The directors and deans of the structural subdivisions greeted the young people and wished them high academic achievements and a rich student life.
Further, a festive line was held at the university yard, which began with the raising of the flags of Ukraine, the European Union and Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The national anthem complemented this solemn moment and added to each of those present a sense of belonging to the large University family and native Ukraine.
An exciting moment was the delivery of the flags of the 8th separate special-purpose regiment and the 80th airmobile brigade. For us, they are symbols of the rebelliousness and heroism of the Ukrainian nation, which courageously endures all the trials of fate.
On this festive day, the chairman of the Academic Council of LTSNU Vitalii Kurylo addressed the audience with words of greeting: “Dear freshmen, students, teachers, staff, guests, I want to congratulate you on the beginning of the new academic year. This year is special, but we take great care, observe all measures and begin training. I would like to wish each student that we will meet in four years, when we will present bachelor’s degrees. Live an interesting student life, study and enjoy every day. Happy Holidays!”
The Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Serhii Savchenko noted in his speech that the first-year students are the main ones on this square: “Today you see our university for the first time, get to know each other, with your teachers. This is such an exciting moment … Remember it. This is the beginning of your independent adult life.”
The chairman of the student government Oleksandr Mironenko also congratulated the students. He addressed the freshmen with the following words: “Today you have come to us for the first time and have already become a part of our friendly Alma Mater. Student government congratulates you on the first step into adulthood, which begins here, within these walls. Be active and smart.”
On April 26, 1939, our university was named after the Great Kobzar – Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. Therefore, our honorable duty is to honor the memory of the genius of the Ukrainian people. So, the honorary right to lay flowers at his monument fell to the students of the ER IHIRSPS Valeria Silka and Vladislav Rusanov.
The most emotional moment of the celebration was the flash mob dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the native Alma Mater. Choreographic teams across the university have come together to showcase the grandeur and beauty of our higher educational institution.
The festivities continued with a quest, where freshmen had the opportunity to see the outstanding places of the university and the city. So, among the locations they visited were a library, a coworking center, an office of New Ukrainian school, photo zones, a center of culture and leisure, an Internet TV and radio studio, University Wave, etc.
Students and teachers, we congratulate you on the beginning of the new academic year, which starts for the 100th time! I wish you success, scientific achievements, good health and boundless happiness. Happy Holidays!
