Olympic medals

The sector “Famous Students – Athletes of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports” is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”.
In the section “Retro Sports” – XXV Olympic Games Barcelona-92. In these competitions, our students won 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals. Olha Bryzgina won her first gold medal in track and field athletics in the 4×400 metres relay with a result of 3:20:20. As part of the united team of athletes from the countries of the former USSR, Olha completed the relay distance and took her team to the top, ahead of the national teams of the USA and Great Britain.
In artistic gymnastics, Ihor Korobchinskyi received a gold medal as part of the united team of athletes from the countries of the former USSR and bronze in exercises on parallel bars. Ihor Korobchinskyi – Honored Master of Sports, European Champion (1989, 1992), World Champion (1989, 1991), Honorary Citizen of Luhansk. After the end of his sports career, he began coaching, was the head coach of the national team of Ukraine in sports gymnastics, first vice-president of the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation. Member of the National Olympic Committee.
Our other gymnast Hryhorii Misiutin made a real triumph at the Olympic Games. Having received the gold medal in the team championship as part of the united team of athletes of the former USSR, he took the second step of the podium in the individual competition in the all-around. He also won silver medals in certain types of all-around: floor exercise, vault and exercise on the bar.
Hryhorii Misiutin – Honored Master of Sports, absolute world champion (1991), world champion in exercises on the crossbar (1992), bronze medalist of the world championship in exercises on rings, European champion in exercises on the crossbar (1992). Having completed his sports career, he moved to Germany permanently.
