Exhibition “We are in history”

On September 7, the grand opening of the exhibition “We are in history” of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences took place.
The Scientific Library of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University hosted the grand opening of the exhibition, which highlighted the main scientific, educational and socio-educational achievements of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences. The event became one of the moments of celebration of the 100th anniversary of our university, which will last during the current academic year.
The exposition presents photographic materials and artifacts that reflect the four leading directions of the “History Department”: scientific, educational, social-humanitarian and archaeological. Among the materials there are photographs that reflect the most significant events of the institute, performances of students and teachers; archaeological finds; flags of the Olvia archaeological detachment, mined in 2019; Student League of Laughter Cup. The exhibition was opened by graduates of the History Faculty – Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Serhii Savchenko and Director of the Institute Anton Bader. In their statements, they noted the importance of preserving the legendary traditions of the History Faculty, the relevance of their popularization among the next generations of students-historians.
A short excursion into the history of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences was conducted by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine Oleksandr Naboka, who came out to the audience in the form of the “father” of historical science, the ancient Greek scientist Herodotus. According to the speaker, its unusual and spectacular appearance is a tribute to one of the most famous traditions of the History Faculty – the Initiation of freshmen into historians, which Herodotus spent many years from the festive scene. Oleksandr Viktorovych noted that despite the difficult times, the History Department managed to fully restore the glorious traditions in various fields.
