Creative contests at the ER ICA

The Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts holds creative contests for applicants.

The Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts has already started the third session of creative competitions for applicants of the specialties “Audiovisual Arts and Production”, “Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration” and “Choreography”.

To successfully pass the previous rounds of the creative competition, applicants of the specialty “Audiovisual Art and Production” had to read a short informational text and demonstrate during reading their fluency in the Ukrainian language and the ability to comply with the norms of oral speech. The commission also took into account the persuasiveness of speech and the integrity of the perception of the text, the clarity of diction, natural behavior during reading. Another challenge was writing an essay on a given topic. To obtain a high mark, applicants had to demonstrate a clear and consistent presentation of the essence of the problem posed, use means of artistic expression, form the author’s view and conclusions that generalize it.

Applicants majoring in Choreography performed tasks aimed at checking the initial basic choreographic training. They had to demonstrate knowledge of the basics of the theory of choreography, practical skills in classical dance and specialization of their own choice, as well as prepare a dance study up to 2 minutes.

The creative contests lasted the longest for future artists, because they painted for 6 hours for two days in a row! For painting, it was necessary to draw a still life, placing it in accordance with the sheet format and taking into account the nature of the lighting. It was necessary to correctly convey the color-tone ratios of the attributes of the still life and the general color gamut, to identify the object characteristics of the components of the still life: proportions, shape, materiality, texture, to convey the plans and space of the environment. The task of drawing consisted in depicting the sitter’s head, where, in addition to general criteria, it was necessary to correctly convey the character, proportions, structural and plastic features and shape of the head of a living nature, to show the quality of technical performance and the ability to convey a volumetric-spatial image of the head by means of chiaroscuro.

We are happy to welcome applicants and look forward to meeting them as students in the academic year.
