LTSNU in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has published the next edition (July 2020).
The next edition of Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities (http://webometrics.info) as of July 2020 included 11998 universities in the world. According to it, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took the 4666 position in the world ranking. In addition, in the continental ranking we got the 3234 position, in the European ranking – 1351, and among the higher educational institutions in Central and Eastern Europe – 388. Among 317 Ukrainian universities present in the ranking, our university took the 28th place.
Recall that the Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities has been compiled since 2004 by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council under the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. The developers publish it twice a year – in July and January. Universities are assessed using a combination of four indicators:
- Presence – the number of pages on websites in the main domain of the institution (including subdomains and directories), which are indexed by the Google search engine – 5%;
- Visibility – a combination of the number of external links to the university’s domain, calculated by Ahrefs and Majestic – 50%;
- Transparency (or Openness) – the number of citations of the works of the top 110 authors of the institution (the top ten most cited authors are excluded) in Google Scholar – 10%;
- Excellence (or SCHOLAR) – the number of publications by university scientists in international scientific journals included in the top 10% of the most cited in 26 fields of science according to the Scimago ranking (for the five-year period 2013-2017) – 35%.
