Archaeological expedition to Olvia
24.7.2020
Students of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences went on an archaeological expedition to the historical and archaeological reserve “Olvia”.
For the third year in a row, the archaeological expedition of the Luhansk detachment to the historical and archaeological reserve “Olvia” (Parutino village, Mykolaiv region) was organized by the joint efforts of the administration of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, the directorate of the ER IHIRSPS, famous graduates of the Institute (M. Bolotskikh), the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and students majoring in History.
The famous tradition, restored in 2018, continues to live despite the quarantine. This year it will be implemented in the form of a volunteer student squad. It should be noted that the main role in organizing the expedition was taken by the students of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences, who took an active part in the previous visits to Olbia, and today they are the successors of maintaining and developing this important direction of the Institute’s work. Among them are Yevgenia Shevtsova, Yaroslav Moiseenko and others. On their example, we see the restoration of another aspect of the Olvian movement – the role of the active students. The participants of the expeditions of the previous years made up the backbone of the present detachment. Many of them will become “veterans” this year – this is the name of the symbolic status that is granted to those members of the movement who visit Olvia for the third time.
The Directorate of the Institute congratulates the participants of the Luhansk detachment and wishes them a good rest, unforgettable impressions and new discoveries in the archaeological field.
