Science Day

On the third Saturday of May, Ukraine celebrates the professional holiday of scientists – Science Day.
The Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications is proud of young scientists.
Artem Halych – Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Journalism and Publishing. He was awarded with scholarship of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2018 – 2020). His research interests are the theory and history of documentary literature, postmodernism in Ukrainian and foreign literature, and immersive journalism. He is the author of three monographs, one of them is co-authored, two educational manuals, 63 articles.
Kateryna Ulianova – Ph.D. in social communications, Associate Professor of journalism and publishing. His research interests include regional press knowledge, methodology for teaching theory and history of journalism. The author of more than 60 scientific papers, one monograph, one teaching aid. Kateryna Ulianova is the editor-in-chief of the student training newspaper “Kontact”.
Tetiana Tsarevska, 4th year student majoring in Journalism. Publishing and Editing became a scholarship holder of the President of Ukraine (2019, 2020). She is fond of the history of Ukrainian literature and studies publishing processes in the region, constantly improves journalism skills by participating in media literacy trainings.
Olena Smytanina, 4th year student majoring in Journalism received a scholarship named after Viacheslav Chernovil in 2018, and in 2019 she became a scholarship holder named after Mykhailo Grushevsky. Olena is a practicing journalist, she is constantly engaged in research work, the priority of which is the regional press.
Anastasia Gorban, 4th year student majoring in “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)”, actively participates in international, national and regional competitions. A sign of international and All-Ukrainian recognition of her scientific achievements is the award: diplomas of the I degree of the Regional Student Youth Competition “Fight – Overcome! ˮ (2017, 2018), diploma of the I degree of II All-Ukrainian (XIII All-Crimean) Competition of Pupils and Students named afer Mary Fisher-Sliz “Compete for a New Life!”, diplomas of the II degree of the regional stage of the Taras Shevchenko International Literary Contest for Pupils and Students (2017 – 2019), diplomas of I and II degrees of the regional stage of the International contest on the Ukrainian language named after Petro Yatsyk (2017 – 2019), the first place in the National Competition of Pupils’ and Students’ Works named after Mykola Gogol (2019), first and third place in the International Competition “My Native Land” (2017, 2019). In 2018, 2019 Anastasia became a scholarship holder of the President of Ukraine.
Viktoria Kalinina, 3rd year student majoring in “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature” took part in many regional, national and international competitions. For three years in a row, she has been the winner of the Regional Competition “Fight – Overcome!”, dedicated to the memory of Yuri Yenenko, the Mary Fisher-Sliz All-Ukrainian Competition for Pupils’ and Students’ Art “Compete for a New Life!” (2020). This year, she took part in the All-Ukrainian Internet Conference, Ukrainian Literature in the Space of Culture and Civilization, XIII All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists “Science. Education. Youth”, III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Luhansk Region: Literary Studies of Local Lore”. Now Viktoria is actively preparing to participate in the XXII International Marusia Beck Literary Competition and notes: “I am delighted to write competitive works, because I am interested in exploring the literature of my native land, language processes in the Luhansk region, the life and work of famous Ukrainian patriotsˮ.
Nina Soroka, 2nd year student majoring in “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)” also actively and skillfully combines study with scientific work. She repeatedly won prizes in the Regional Student Youth Competition “Fight – Overcome! ˮ, dedicated to the memory of Yurii Yenenko (2018, 2020), in the regional stages of the 19th and 20th International Ukrainian Language Competitions named after Petro Yatsyk (2019 – 2020), as well as in V and VI All-Ukrainian (XV and XVI All-Crimean) competition of Pupils and Students named after Mary Fisher-Sliz “Compete for a New Life! ˮ, dedicated to Lesia Ukrainka (2019 – 2020). This year, she took part in the All-Ukrainian Internet Conference “Ukrainian Literature in the Space of Culture and Civilization”, XIII All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference “Science. Education. Youthˮ, III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Luhansk Region: Local Lore Explorationˮ. In 2019, she became a scholarship holder named after Mykhailo Grushevskyi.
