Research practice of master’s students at the Department of Ukrainian Language

Master’s students of the Ukrainian Language Department undergo a research practice in a remote mode.

For first-year undergraduates specialty 014 “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature” at the Department of the Ukrainian Language organized the passage of research and production practice in remote mode in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19. This type of activity is an obligatory component of the educational program for the training of masters.

In accordance with the schedule of the educational process, the practice lasts two weeks. Oksana Kleshchova, an experienced teacher and scientist, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor of the Ukrainian Language Department of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, leads the practice.

Six part-time master’s students are practicing at the Department of the Ukrainian language.  The subject matter of their scientific research is multidimensional, but each of them understands what it is dealing with.

So, master’s student Andrii Verkhovod explores interactive forms of business communication, in particular seminars and webinars. “The research topic is relevant, because in modern Ukrainian society such forms of business communication as a seminar and webinar have spread, however, the scientific literature does not sufficiently analyze the conditions and means of their conduct, and the features of these interactive forms of communication are not defined,” Andrii says.

The master’s student Andrii Goriachkin works on the problem of a comparative analysis of the language code in printed and electronic journalistic texts of the 21st century. He noted that at the first stage of work he will need to perform the following tasks: to analyze the state of research of a particular problem in the scientific literature, to find out the concept of a language code and to compare the ways of its representation in journalistic texts, both printed and electronic.

The master’s student Andrii Proskuriakov decided to study the linguo-stylistic features of the song lyrics of the Boombox group. He is sure that the Ukrainian music industry is developing rapidly, it produces a high-quality product. At the heart of songwriting, of course, is the text. “One of my favorites is the Boombox group, whose author and performer is my namesake Andrii Hlyvniuk. Ukrainian lyrics of the song genre are an important component of national poetry. From a linguistic point of view, song lyrics are practically not put into circulation by linguistic-stylistic studies, and therefore are not actually entered into the context of the history of Ukrainian literary language at the beginning of the 21st century. I will work on this”, Andrii admits.

The master’s student Maryna Chumakova masters linguistic and methodological technologies of speech development of students in the lessons of the Ukrainian language. She shared her work plans: “The purpose of my master’s work involves identifying and analyzing the theoretical and practical foundations of introducing a technological approach to the speech development of students and developing my own linguistic and methodological technologies for theoretical and practical development of students’ speech in Ukrainian lessons, which will allow introducing the proposed technologies when studying in school.”

The master’s student Viktoria Yukhnenko is trying to determine the means of implementing communicative strategies in official business discourse. “I hope during practice to determine the scientific basis for the implementation of communicative strategies in official business discourse and analyze the corresponding communicative situations. I set myself the goal of finding out the key structural and classification features of communication strategies and tactics, as well as determining the role of verbal and non-verbal means of official-business communication”, Viktoria shared her plans.

According to the results of the practice, master’s students will have to present to the head a compiled list of scientific papers on the problem of master’s research, a report on testing materials, an ordered structure (content), an introductory section and a working version of the first chapter of the master’s work.

We wish master’s students the successful completion of practical tasks and further scientific achievements.
