The Campaign on Collecting Plastic Bottles and Caps

Some time ago the charity fund OVES announced a campaign on collecting plastic bottles and caps.

The raw materials will be recycled and the proceeds will be sent to produce the prosthesis for ATO soldiers. It has been already supported by the Ministry of Ecology of Ukraine and a lot of volunteers, students and the administration of our university.

“Plastic bottle and a cap are made of different types of plastic. They can be broken into granules and be used as rough materials. It will be sold and the collected funds will be sent for prosthesis for a soldier. This campaign solves two problems – ecological and social,” – the report says.

In summer plastic was collected by the Admission Committee and university administration but now when the university works all students have joined this action.

“I think that we have shown our support to the soldiers who protect our Motherland. Without doubt, it is very necessary and important action, especially in our time. If not us, then who?”, – told Artem Hurtovyi, a student of the Department of Physical Education.

For today the university has already collected up to 100 kg of plastic bottles and the same amount of the caps. The administration notes that they are not going to be satisfied with what has already been achieved. They want to expand the sphere of the action by calling for support many organizations of Starobilsk.

“We wish more people showed their active citizenship by participating in this action. It is difficult if only LNU is engaged so the more organizations of our city and the others will join us the better. We are the only collecting point in Starobilsk that is really complicated for us because the company which transports raw materials to the recycling points needs to drive several hundred kilometers to take those 100 kg that we have. It would be much easier if there were several receiving points in our region.”

Despite all the difficulties, the university continues the action on collecting plastic because each of us has a strong feeling of patriotism and “If not us then who?…”
