International Conference

Teachers of the Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism took part in the International Conference.

Teachers of the Department of Commodity Research, Commercial Business and Goods Expertise took an active part in the International Scientific-Practical Internet Conference “Quality and Certification of Products” and received certificates.

The conference was held online in Skype session in March 2020. This is part of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Varna University of Economics. The forum was organized by the Center for Product Quality and Consumer Protection of the Research Institute at the University of Economics-Varna and the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision on the eve of March 15, International Consumer Day.

The conference was opened by Assoc. Dr. Temenuga Stoykova – Head of the Center for Product Quality and Consumer Protection. She recalled the basic rights of consumers, one of which is to obtain quality and safe products. An important condition for their guarantee is the certification of the received services and products offered on the market, the problems and possible solutions of which are the aim of the conference. In an epidemic environment, these issues are of paramount importance.

Scientists from the Department of Commodity Research, Commercial Business and Goods Expertise presented their research and recommendations on solving the problem of counterfeit products on the market, methodology for determining the originality and falsification of motor oils, quality control of used fried oils, creating products for special dietary consumption (for athletes).

The conducted scientific and practical conference presented the modern scientific achievements of our and foreign scientists, the best practices of specialists in quality and product certification, combined efforts and presented the capabilities of various bodies and structures to prevent the sale of low-quality products. The role of mandatory and voluntary certification was stressed to ensure the quality and safety of goods and protect the interests of consumers.
