Poetry of the peoples of the world

At the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the traditional annual competition “Poetry of the peoples of the world” was first held in a remote format.

The competition includes the recitation of poems in English, German, French and Spanish for pupils of grades 10-11 of secondary schools.

The aim of the competition is to develop pupils’ creative abilities and soft skills, the ability to present themselves to an audience, the development of sociocultural communicative competence, the ability to use the experience gained, and to spread a positive attitude towards learning foreign languages.

This year the fate of the competition is not easy: the competition was originally planned for February 15, 2020, but due to the quarantine of influenza in the city of Poltava and the Poltava region, the organizers of the competition moved it to March 14, 2020. However, this time, no luck, as there was introduced a national quarantine in connection with the spread of the pandemic. The organizing committee of the competition made a final decision. That the contest should be held, because there were about 100 pupils who wanted to participate, and invited all participants to make a video of the poetry recitation and send it by e-mail.

The friendly and close-knit team of the Faculty of Foreign Languages made every effort to ensure that this year the competition took place!

We are glad to note that the majority of pupils (60 participants) from 20 schools in the city of Poltava and the Poltava region took part in the competition, which took place in such an extraordinary format. The Organizing Committee thanks all the participants and their teachers for their active participation and contribution to the development of the art of world poetry! For all participants and their mentors, the organizers prepared certificates. And for the winners – valuable prizes: mugs and notebooks with the emblem of the university and faculty. We hope that this will become a pleasant memorable memory about our faculty!

On the eve of the Easter holidays, the results were announced and the winners of the contest were determined!

Congratulations:
