Scientific and practical conferences at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

Romance and Germanic Philology Department continues the tradition of holding scientific and practical conferences even during the quarantine due to web technologies.

On April 17, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Key Problems of Modern Germanic and Romance Philology” was held for lecturers. The conference was held on Zoom.

The IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Key Problems of Modern Germanic and Romance Philology” was fruitful and eventful. Lecturers could discuss their scientific achievements and further research. The work of the following sections took place: “Comparative Studies of Romance and Germanic Languages”, “Discourse in Intercultural Communication”, “Cognitive Science, Translation Studies”, “Theory and History of Literature, Literary Criticism”, “Modern Trends in Teaching Foreign Languages”.

Presentations were made by: Shekhavtsova S.O, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor and Husakova O.O., lecturer: “Features of the formation of critical thinking of future teachers of foreign languages”; Byndas O.M., PhD, associate professor “Modeling of a language game in printed advertising texts of English-language publications”; Reva I.A., lecturer, “Aspects of the translation of phraseological unity in the work “Three-penny Novel” by B. Brecht”; Shapovalova L.V, PhD, associate professor “Concept of “cunning” in French phraseological picture of the world”; Okunkova L.O., senior lecturer, “Creative writing as an effective way of individual teaching of English”; Shkarlet V.O., lecturer “Teaching Spanish at higher educational Institutions of Ukraine at the modern stage”; Paslavska I.S., lecturer “Development of students’ soft skills in the process of learning a foreign language as a necessary component of the future competitiveness”.

The conference was also attended by such educational institutions as Lanzhou Polytechnic College (China), Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko, King Danylo University, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, University of Customs and Finance, Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, Kryvyi Rih National University.

The participants of the conference submitted their scientific papers for publication in the Bulletin of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University (philological sciences), which will be published in May.

Also on April 14, the VI All-Ukrainian Students’ Scientific and Practical Conference “Romance and Germanic Languages ​​in the Modern Intercultural Space” was held in a remote format. During the quarantine students continue to study and participate in scientific work; more than 30 abstracts were submitted to the conference. Many higher educational institutions supported the tradition of students’ conferences at the Romance and Germanic Philology Department, including: Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi State Pedagogical University, National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, Kryvyi Rih National University.

The following sections were presented at the conference: “Actual issues of Romance and Germanic philology and translation studies”, “Modern strategies for intercultural communication in the European space”, “The originality of Romance and Germanic literature”, “Innovative technologies for teaching Romance and Germanic languages”. A collection of students’ abstracts also will be printed.

All participants of the conference received electronic certificates. We are sincerely grateful to all participants. We will be waiting for our next meeting!
