Scientific research at the Department of Biology and Agronomy
15.4.2020
With the onset of spring, a new stage of scientific research begins at the Department of Biology and Agronomy.
New chores and worries come with spring. Now the scientists of the department begin spring field work on the topics of scientific and dissertation research.
Under the leadership of the head of the Department of Biology and Agronomy, Professor Serhii Masliiov the postgraduate student Natalia Korzhova continues research on the topic: “Agrobiological Features of the Cultivation of Promising Varieties of Spring Barley in the Steppe Zone of Ukraine”.
In March, field experiments were initiated on the research topic according to generally accepted methods (calculated weight of 1000 grains, seeding rate, seed placement depth, rate of fertilizer application, etc.). Observation of plants is carried out from sowing to harvest with a frequency of 7-10 days. The main areas are: the study of promising varieties of spring barley, which is zoned to the steppe zone of Ukraine; studies of the effect of minerals on spring barley plants; tillage under spring barley; weediness of plants after the precursor. The results obtained in the research process are subject to processing, are discussed at meetings of the Department and are covered in scientific journals.
In parallel, a study is being conducted of winter wheat crops. The scientist of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Oleksandr Beseda, under the direction of Serhii Masliyov, working on the scientific topic “Modern Energy-Efficient and Alternative Technologies for Growing Winter Wheat”, develops further technological and practical recommendations for the care of crops for high yields.
Scientific research at the Department of Biology and Agronomy continues …
We wish our researchers creative inspiration, vitality, new achievements and generous harvests, both on the field and in the scientific field!
