Directions of work of the IPP

With the beginning of quarantine, the ER IPP developed a detailed work plan for the institute, departments, for teachers and students.

So, with the beginning of quarantine, the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology developed a detailed work plan of the institute, departments, teachers and students in accordance with the main three areas of the university: educational-methodological, scientific and social-humanitarian.

Based on the reports of the directorate and departments, we present the intermediate work results of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology during quarantine, conditionally dividing it into two parts:

1) educational-methodical and social-humanitarian work;
2) scientific work.
So, according to the Order 39-ОD dated March 16, 2020, on the distribution of acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the Directorate introduced changes in the organization of the educational process, which became a definite challenge for the Institute and the whole university. During the quarantine, the institute’s departments were forced to organize educational and methodological activities in remote access, in particular, to work on remote technologies on the educational portal.

According to the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs O. Tsalapova, as of April 15, 2020, teachers were fully provided with the weekly content of the disciplines provided for by the curriculum; timely monitoring of learning outcomes; the results of all types of work on the site are published; in off-line and online modes organized counseling. To organize a dialogue with students, the institute’s websites involved in departments (specialties and educational programs) and the potential of curators in messengers (Facebook, Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram), groups on social networks (Facebook and Instagram) are involved, consultations are held on educational disciplines on the ZOOM platform.

The methodological work of the teachers of the institute takes place in accordance with the department planning: preparation and publication of guidelines and manuals, participation in webinars, trainings, master classes, online courses, etc.

The heads of departments of the IPP took an active part in the process of discussing draft new curriculum templates for the educational levels of the master and bachelor for the 2020-2021 academic year. Work is underway on the development of silobuses of disciplines of free choice for applicants of the educational level of the master, to which all departments of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology joined.

Olena Karaman, Director of the ER IPP and O. Tsalapova, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, also took part in the discussion of draft procedures for ensuring the quality of educational activities at the university, in particular, the procedures for compiling a list of disciplines of free choice, the procedures for the final certification of applicants for higher education, and the final certification procedure for applicants higher education, procedures for issuing diplomas and diplomas with honors, procedures for organizing practice, procedures for developing and approving educational programs amma and the like.

Work is underway to prepare for the final certification of graduates in the educational degree of a bachelor (summer, 2020). According to the roadmap for the organization of the educational process in 2019-2020 a package of documents was prepared for the university’s academic department in IA, the schedule for the final certification was clarified; graduating departments submitted to the institute’s directorate all the necessary materials. Despite the possibility of continuing quarantine measures, work has begun on the search for adequate forms of final certification in remote access.

In order to complete training, fulfill the curriculum and admission to the final certification, extraordinary meetings of graduating departments were held and the question of making changes to the program of practices in terms of the possibility of their passage in remote mode was heard. In accordance with the adopted decisions, the actions of orders on the completion of practical training by students of graduate courses of the educational degree of the bachelor of specialties of the ER IPP in remote access were restored. The duration of the remaining practices remains unchanged, according to the previously approved practice schedule, but with changes in the programs. According to the program changes, the Safety Instructions for students sent to practice (training / production) in remote access were developed and sent by e-mail to students.

The graduating departments of the IPP completed work on the development of entrance test programs for the institute’s specialties; while the process of posting entrance examinations to the electronic university of LNU.UKR continues.

The social and humanitarian work in the ER IPP from March 16, 2020 to the present is also carried out in compliance with quarantine conditions. The coordinator of this work area is the deputy director V. Pushko. Teachers (academic curators) work with students, are at home by using technologies and means of remote communication: a mobile phone with which they organize groups in social networks, mobile applications (Facebook, Skype, Twitter, Instagram, Viber), as well as email. The joint work of teachers and representatives of student self-government bodies is coordinated through the ZOOM platform and the educational portal of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The priority task was to coordinate the joint activities of the student directorate, student council, head of academic groups and curators of training on the educational portal in quarantine. All the elders have established contact with each department, where disciplines of a certain course are taught; get information about working with materials of educational and methodological complexes, checking and evaluating tasks of group students.

It is worth noting the clear, ordered actions of the directorate of ER IPP, committed in this direction.

10. After a three-week quarantine, a survey was conducted among students of the ER IPP on their education in remote access. An analysis of the results allows us to state the following: 95% of students consider lecturing, counseling, conducting practical classes via Skype, Zoom and working on the educational portal effective, but they want to return to stationary training faster (miss friends, teachers, interesting student life, etc.).
11. Organizational work at the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology is aimed at quickly responding and solving current problems of students and teachers in overcoming the risks in organizing the educational process (providing consultations, certificates, issuing diplomas, coordinating the work of elders of academic groups, curators, etc.).
So, despite the quarantine, the life of teachers and students of the IPP is interesting, meaningful and eventful, carried out on the basis of careful planning, and therefore already has significant results in all areas of the university’s activities – educational, scientific, social and humanitarian. The results of the scientific work of the IPP will be presented in a separate publication.
