Happy birthday, Alma Mater!

Today, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has celebrated its 99th anniversary!

Our university is the most powerful institution of higher education in the east of Ukraine! He walked almost a 100-year path of development and existence, becoming a center of education, science and culture, not only in the Luhansk region, but throughout the eastern region of Ukraine. The forced evacuation did not break the spirit of the students and teaching staff, but rather hardened and made it more durable!

In the morning, the university was in a festive mood. The Shevchenko’s family felt joy and pride for their native Alma Mater and exchanged greetings.

A number of celebrations began with a solemn meeting of the Academic Council. On the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the university foundation, the chairman of the Academic Council Vitali Kurylo congratulated the everybody on the holiday and wished the whole student and teaching staff youth of soul, strength of spirit, swiftness in scientific research, new victories, significant achievements and good health, as well as prosperity and functioning for more than one century to our native Alma Mater. 

Traditionally, on this day during a meeting of the Academic Council, the titles Honorary Professor of LTSNU, Honorary Doctor of Sciences of LTSNU, The Best Student of LTSNU were awarded and the employees of our institution of higher education were awarded with the University Certificate of Honor for the significant contribution to the development of the university and significant achievements in educational activities. 

Further, the celebrations continued at the Starobilsk Taras Shevchenko District House of Culture, where a festive concert was held. The hall was decorated with models of the Brianka College of LTSNU. They demonstrated incredible outlooks in which the professional approach of their performers was felt. The whole Shevchenko’s family and guests of the event had the opportunity to take pictures with the beautiful women in dresses from the new collection.

Among the honored guests who visited this holiday were the Chairman of the Luhansk Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Sevriuk, Armed Forces of Ukraine, Head of the Staff of the Starobilsk District State Administration Vitalii Chernenko, Deputy of the Starobilsk District Council Serhii Domarev, Starobilsk Mayor Yana Litvinova. 

All guests congratulated our Alma Mater on its anniversary and wished for a multi-faceted activity, new discoveries, creative inspiration, scientific growth and a close-knit team.

For high professionalism, diligent work, successes achieved in the implementation of state policy in the field of education, training and upbringing of the younger generation and on the occasion of the celebration of the 99th anniversary of the university foundation, the guests awarded the university staff with diplomas and certificates. 

A separate pleasant gift for the Shevchenko family was a letter of congratulation from the chairman of the university’s Supervisory Council, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksii Dneprov, in which he noted that over the years the university has become a powerful scientific, educational, cultural, sports center of the Luhansk region, an outpost of Ukraine in eastern region of the country. “On behalf of the Supervisory Council, let me express my deep gratitude for your inspired work and wish the entire team creative successˮ.

The Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Serhii Savchenko, noted, “Dear our guests, military personnel, students, employees and teachers! Today is a special day for us. Over 99 years of its existence, our university has proved that it is capable of doing a miracle – our future!”

For diligent work and dedication to the university, he awarded the university staff with honorary diplomas and certificates. 

The Chairman of the Academic Council of the University Vitalii Kurylo congratulated his native Alma Mater, “Our university has a great tragic and heroic story, ups and downs, people, evacuations. All this intertwined at our university. The main thing for us now is to look forward and think about how the university will develop. Everything will be fine with us!”

An important stage was the awarding of the Best Student of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Honorary Professor of LTSNU and Honorary Doctor of LTSNU. These people are the standard and model for the entire Shevchenko’s family.

On this day, greetings and wishes of strength and inspiration for new achievements poured from the scene – love for our people, their homeland – Ukraine, their native land – Luhansk region. Songs performed by vocalists gave a lot of pleasure and unforgettable impressions. The staging and performance of choreographic performances amazed everyone with their skill.

Our university is truly young, because the spirit of optimism, romance, dreams and hopes lives within its walls. We live not only in the present, but also look to the future, our dreams do not stop, but fly higher and higher!

Dear University, tomorrow will come a new day and it will begin the countdown to your 100th anniversary, and today, accept congratulations on the 99th anniversary! Happy birthday, dear Alma Mater!
