A solemn event dedicated to the 99th anniversary of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports.

The experienced teachers of the institute, who studied and worked at the university back in the 70-80s, told students about the development history of our university, showed photos and slides of the construction of educational buildings and sports grounds, a sports building, dormitories before and after the Second World War.

Students learned how the university was formed after the liberation of Voroshilovgrad from the Nazi invaders in February 1943, they saw in the photo how the institute was being restored by the forces of student construction crews on Oboronna Street. The teachers told how in the post-war years the tradition of developing scientific schools for teachers began, which found their continuation in the practice of modern university scientists. Video films about our sports, scientific, educational achievements and the modern life of students and teachers of our university were shown.

The particular attention was paid to the situation in 2014, when, under conditions of emergency evacuation, the university together with the administration, faculty and staff, was evacuated to the city of Starobilsk. Other structural subdivisions are located in the cities of Kreminna, Rubizhne, Poltava.

Despite the difficult conditions, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is a leader in education and science, the center of cultural development of the eastern region of Ukraine.
