LTSNU in the world webometric rankings

International rankings Webometrics and uniRank have published world university rankings as of January 2020.
The new edition of Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities (http://webometrics.info) as of January 2020 included 11993 universities in the world. According to it, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took 4569th place in the world. Among the 318 Ukrainian universities that are in the ranking, our university took 26th place. Among the higher educational institutions of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University takes 254th position, and in the European ranking we got 1082th place. In addition, our university ranked 2701 in the continental ranking.
Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has been published since 2004 by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council under the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Developers publish it twice a year – in July and in January. Universities are assessed using a combination of four indicators:
- Presence – the number of pages on websites in the main domain of the institution (including subdomains and directories) that are indexed by the Google search engine – 5%;
- Visibility – a combination of the number of external links to the university domain; Ahrefs and Majestic are calculated – 50%;
- Transparency (or Openness) – the number of citations of works by top 110 authors of the institution (the top ten most cited authors are excluded) on Google Scholar – 10%;
- Excellence (or SCHOLAR) – the number of publications of university scientists in international scientific journals that are in the top 10% of the most cited in 26 areas of science according to the Scimago ranking (for the five-year period 2013-2017) – 35% .
The UniRank University Ranking (https://www.4icu.org) estimates the web popularity of world universities and relies on independent statistics. It has been published since May 2005 and was formerly called 4ICU (4 International Colleges & Universities: University Web Rankings & Reviews).
To calculate the position in the ranking, a special algorithm is used, based on independent indicators, carefully processed and compiled from popular web sources. The ranking methodology is constantly changing, periodically updated to ensure the best results.
The current uniRank University Ranking™ is based upon an algorithm including 5 unbiased and independent web metrics extracted from 4 different web intelligence sources:
- Moz Domain Authority
- Alexa Global Rank
- SimilarWeb Global Rank
- Majestic Referring Domains
- Majestic Trust Flow
In January 2020 UniRank general ranking, which included more than 13,600 world institutions of higher education, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is on the 5557th position. Among 171 Ukrainian universities our university took 46th place, and among the higher education institutions of the Luhansk region LTSNU took the 1st place.
