Political and Legal Discussion Club Meeting

On December 5, 2019, a regular meeting of the Political and Legal Discussion Club “Analityka” dedicated to the problem of discrimination took place.
Students of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences noted that the list of signs by which they can discriminate against a person is quite large. This includes race, color, national or ethnicity, gender and gender identity, age, health status (in particular, belonging to the category of people with disabilities, HIV status), citizenship (or lack thereof), family and marital status, social status, occupation, property status, place of residence, religion, religious and denominational affiliation (affiliation with religious communities and organizations), philosophical and political beliefs liaison, belonging to associations of citizens, belonging to a certain social group, level of education, sexual orientation, criminal record and experience in prisons, and even the language of communication.
Students came to the conclusion that an effective solution to the problem of discrimination in Ukraine provides for the effective implementation of legislation and anti-discrimination policies, the implementation of relevant UN and Council of Europe documents; strengthening the capacity of the responsible authorities in the field of anti-discrimination policies and the fight against racism, xenophobia and intolerance.
