New records at the World Powerlifting Championships

Graduates of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports showed good results at the World Powerlifting Championships.
The World Powerlifting Championship ended in the city of Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
The first champion title of the national team of Ukraine was received by a graduate of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports Mykola Barannik in the weight category up to 83 kg.
Having received a silver medal in a squat with a result of 365 kg and a bronze medal in a bench press, Mykola was inaccessible to rivals in the third form of the program – deadlift. In total triathlon 927,5 kg he won the world title for the first time in his career! Champion was also trained by our graduates A.M. Urban and V.M. Urban.
Our second graduate, Oleksii Bychkov, became the hero of the Championship in the weight category up to 120 kg.
Only in the squat, the athlete lost the first step of the pedestal, conquering 417.5 kg. In the bench press, without any chance of rivals competing, Oleksii recorded 327.5 kg, and 387.5 kg in the deadlift brought him another small gold award and the fifth world title! And the amount of 1132.5 kg is now a new world record!
In the team event, our men’s team took the second place.
A second-year student majoring in “Physical Education and Sports. Sports” Daria Rusanenko also participated in the Championships. She took 11th place in the category up to 84 kg. The athlete first participated in the “adult” championship at the age of 18, and only two months ago she became the world champion among girls. Daria in the total eventing of 540 kg set a new record for Ukraine among girls.
