Defender of Ukraine Day
16.10.2019
The Institute of Culture and Arts celebrated the Defender of Ukraine Day.
An open curatorial hour was held, at which they summed up the results of the flash mob #захищаюУкраїну. His goal was to gather students around the idea of the holiday and to promote reflection on their civic position and social role in Ukraine and society.
The concept of defense in a personal context was used as the main idea for a flash mob – students took pictures and wrote what they want to protect in their country, which requires attention, what associations arise with this holiday and the concept of “defense” in general.
Photos with texts were proposed to be posted on social networks with a common hashtag, according to which everyone can see the results of this activity.
The following issues were discussed at the curatorial hour, such as the concept of the prestige of the military profession, attitude to the military men in different countries, improving interactions in the military-power-population system, and the importance of respect for the military men in the society.
They also discussed the need for patriotic education in educational institutions, the difference between modern practices of forming a civic position and their Soviet analogues.
Based on the results of the flash mob, they demonstrated slides with student posts and read out the most touching texts. Those present reacted vividly to the presentation and discussed the posts of friends. The curator hour was conducted by the deputy directors for educational and socio-humanitarian work.
