A seminar entitled “The role of libraries in the modern world and the professional development of librarians” was held at the Information and Cultural Center “Window on America” at LTSNU.

The seminar was organized by the Informatio-Consortium Association as part of the project “Moved Universities: American Books and Librarians Professional Development” with the financial support from the US Embassy in Ukraine. The event was attended by the coordinator of the American centers of the US Embassy in Ukraine Natalia Yasko, the coordinator of the Informatio-Consortium Association Victoria Choch, staff of our library, Luhansk Regional Universal Scientific Library, coordinators of the centers “Window on America”.

At the beginning of the meeting, the coordinator of the center “Window on America” Oksana Husakova showed the participants of the seminar a presentation during which she provided information about the activities of the center, which operates on the basis of our university, and spoke about the projects that are being implemented here as well as trainings and courses on media literacy.

The reports on “Sepuls in Sepulcaria: Information from Nothing. The Formation of Critical Thinking in the Information War ”and“ Cybersecurity in the Library” were made by Anastasia Litashova and Svitlana Moiseeva, employees of the Luhansk Regional Scientific Library. Librarians talked about fakes that are often found on social networks, information security, and also provided tips on how to choose and respond to information in the media space.

During the seminar, other very interesting topics were discussed: “How to promote American literature: forms and methods, partnerships”, “Resources and modern methods of learning English, the experience of the centers “Window on America” in improving the study of English”, “Talk about intellectual property”.

During the event, participants learned about the project “WOA on the Go: professional support for the staff of the libraries of displaced universities”, shared their own experiences, heard and saw the results of the successful activities of the centers “Window on America”.
