Academic Council meeting

A scheduled meeting of the Academic Council was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Four main issues were considered on the agenda:
- About approval of the University Development Strategy for 2019 – 2025;
- About the results of the admission campaign 2019 and preparations for its implementation in 2020;
- About the activities of the socio-humanitarian departments;
- About conferring academic ranks.
A report on the approval of the University Development Strategy for 2019 – 2025 was made by Vitalii Kurylo.
Formulation of the development strategy for the SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” is due to the need to make changes aimed at improving the quality of educational services and the competitiveness of the University in a new sociocultural context, determining the prospects for the development of LTSNU during the military conflict in the Donbas and in the period of recovery after this conflict. The strategy will provide an opportunity for the University to train highly qualified specialists, research and educational work among the population.
The fundamental principles of formulation of the Strategy is the definition of strategic directions for the university development, the definition of strategic tasks and ways to solve them; sending a team of teachers, staff and students to work well together to achieve the strategic goals of the University; public awareness of the strategic priorities of the University; improving the management system of the University; development of scientific-pedagogical and material-technical potential of the University; ensuring openness of the University, active integration into the global information space, membership in international educational organizations; maintaining and strengthening the leading role of the University in the national education system.
The discussion was attended by Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Dmytro Uzhchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Leonid Vakhovskyi, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Oleksandr Babichev, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of the IHIRSPS Ilia Kononov, Director of the IPAMPE Volodymyr Zablotskyi and Head of the Department of Public Service and Management of Educational and Social Institutions Evhen Hrykov.
A report on the results of the admission campaign 2019 and preparations for its implementation in 2020 was made by Yaroslava Yurkiv and Svitlana Kharkovska. Having listened and discussed the reports of the executive secretary of the Admission Committee and the Head of the Donbas-Ukraine educational center, the Academic Council noted that the University and its structural subdivisions as a whole ensured the organization of admission to all educational degrees and educational qualification levels and forms of training in 2019 .
The volume of admission to the university, taking into account all the separate subdivisions and educational degrees and levels, was: 290 – on the basis of the EQL of Skilled Worker, 518 – on the basis of Junior Specialist, 1246 – on the basis of , 1205 – on the basis of the Master, 23 – on the basis of the Doctor of Philosophy, 3 – on the basis of the Doctor of Sciences.
The total volume of admission to the university, taking into account all the separate units and levels, amounted to 3285 people. Today, the admission of foreign citizens continues.
Also, the members of the Academic Council identified a number of factors that impeded the success of the admission campaign, including a decrease in the number of school graduates in Ukraine, a complicated list of the External testing certificates in specialties.
A report on the activities of the socio-humanitarian departments was made by Evhen Hrykov.
Having listened and discussed the reports of Professor Evhen Hrykov and the acting head of the Educational and Methodological Department Margarita Kravchenko, the Academic Council noted that the faculty of the departments of socio-humanitarian profile inlcudes 99 full-time employees and 89 part-time employees.
The departments have formulated educational and methodological support for educational programs, including work programs that are updated annually and approved at meetings of departments, study guides, manuals, assignments for individual and independent work; in parallel with in-house training, teachers conduct lectures online.
A report on the conferring academic ranks was made by Nadiia Karlova. According to the results of the secret ballot, the academic rank of Professor of the Department of Public Service and Management of Educational and Social Institutions of LLTSNU was awarded to Volodymyr Zablotskyi; the rank of Professor of the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology was awarded to Svitlana Shekhavtsova; the rank of Professor of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis was awarded to Yuri Zhuchok.
