Students majoring in Social Work (Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences) paid tribute to the memory of Ivan Svitlychnyi.
On September 20, 1929, Ivan Svitlychnyi, a Ukrainian poet of the sixties, literary critic, linguist, translator, political prisoner was born.
Ivan Svitlychnyi is one of the central figures of the Ukrainian movement of the sixties. According to his co-workers Vasyl Ovsienko, “the whole Ukrainian Kyiv actually revolved around Ivan Svitlychnyi.” In the presence of Ivan Svitlychnyi, Vasyl Stus noted, “the last fool spoke smart and kind words, even if Ivan did not say a word, but only was present and smile in his mustache.”
The event marking the 90th birthday of Ivan Svitlychnyi began with a minute of silence in honor of those who laid down their lives for the sake of Ukraine. Students majoring in Social Work (participants in the Bravo Theater Studio) presented the audience a literary and musical composition about the life, work and literary heritage of the sixties.
Pride in the native Starobilsk land, sadness over the loss of the outstanding son of Ukraine overwhelmed the participants in the action.
