“Window on America”

The Information and Cultural Center “Window on America” successfully continues its activities at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

The Window on America Center was created on the basis of an agreement of understanding between the press, education and culture department of the US Embassy in Ukraine and our University. This is the place for lectures, discussions, interactive programs, presentations, literary evenings, meetings with interesting people, which contributes to a better understanding of the life and culture of America. This academic year, the center has the following classes:

  • “English Kids Club” – an English language lesson for students in grades 2-4 (on Saturdays at 12:00, room 308);
  • “Code Club UA” – a programming club (every Saturday at 11, room 306);
  • “Handmade Club” – hand-made products club (every Saturday at 13.00);
  • “Verified. Course on Media Literacy”- a course on media literacy (on Mondays at 9.30, room 308);
  • English Small Fellowship Program for the US Embassy in Ukraine Access.

According to the results of the Youth Leadership Program project, this year youth leaders – volunteers will be able to work in the center.

Employees of the Center provide visitors with information about the United States, inform about American assistance and exchange programs, and contribute to the study of English. The Embassy, ​​in turn, provides the Center with printed and electronic resources about the United States, new printed and electronic resources on the issues, in accordance with the needs of the main categories of users, materials about programs and grants of the US government, educational opportunities and financial support for studying in the United States.

On October 2, within the framework of the project “WOA on the Go: professional support for the staff of libraries of displaced universities,” a presentation and transfer of the book collection to the library will take place at the university scientific library, which will be attended by Natalka Yasko, coordinator of the US centers of the US Embassy in Ukraine and representative of the Information-Consocium Association Viktoria Church.

On October 3, at the Information and Cultural Center “Window on America” ​​will be a training for the staff of libraries of displaced universities and specialists of other libraries in the region.
