National Flag Day with children

The university student social service together with Red Cross volunteers visited the kindergarten “Nezabudka”.

August 23, when all of Ukraine celebrated the National Flag Day, the celebrations took place not only at our university, but also beyond its borders. So, the student social service of LTSNU together with students held a patriotic event with the pupils of the “Nezabudka” kindergarten on the occasion of the National Flag Day.

The children learned about the significance of this holiday for Ukrainians, its history, about the symbolizm of two colors of the Ukrainian flag. As you know, the yellow color is the color of a wheat field, the color of bread, grain, which gives life to everything on earth, it is the color of the orange sun, without tender rays of which it would not have ripened, bread would not have wavered. This is a symbol of the prosperity of the Ukrainian people. Blue is the color of a clear, clean, peaceful sky. This is the color of water, without which bread would not have ripened. And yet – this is the color of the world.

At the end of the meeting, the volunteers together with the kids made a map of their native country on the canvas, decorating it with yellow-blue ribbons.
