In his office, the Rector drew the guests’ attention to the relic of our Alma Mater – a flag that was found on the ruins of the Luhansk airport after its defense in 2014. This flag, risking their lives, was taken out by one of the university teachers in 2015 already from the occupied Luhansk city.
The guests visited the exhibition of paintings by students and graduates of our University, located on the second floor of the building. They also visited the premises of the university assembly hall, which was repaired this year before the 97th anniversary of our Alma Mater.
The guests were amazed by the geological museum, the opening of which was timed to the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The restoration of the museum and the structure of its work were carried out by the Honorary Professor of our University, Candidate of Geological-Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor of Geography Mykola Udovichenko. The highlight of our geological museum is the exposition of paleontological specimens from both Donbas and other regions of the world. Recently, the museum expositions are replenished with samples that have already been found by current students during research expeditions. Especially guests were struck by a sample of fossil petrified wood found by our students last year.
Exhibits of zoological collections were presented to the guests, which will become the basis for the restoration of the university’s zoological museum. All presented exhibits were made by the hands of biology students during educational practices in zoology and practical lessons on taxidermy under the guidance of Serhii Lytvynenko, teacher of the Department of Biology and Agronomy.
The guests were acquainted with the educational laboratory “New Ukrainian School” of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, on the basis of which, under the guidance of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Preschool and Primary Education Department Liudmyla Varianytsia implement modern approaches in teaching students and raising the level of teachers in the primary school.
