Academic Council meeting

Today a scheduled meeting of the Academic Council was held.

The agenda included the following issues:

• about the implementation of the decisions of the Academic Council for the academic year 2018-2019;
• competitive affairs;
• discussion and recommendation for approval of the work plan of the Academic Council for the academic year 2019 – 2020;
• about the approval of the University’s Development Strategy for 2019 – 2025;
• miscellanea.

The Acting Scientific Secretary Nadiia Karlova spoke about the implementation of the decisions of the Academic Council for the academic year 2018 – 2019. She summarized the work for the year, drew attention to important decisions and approved documents. In general, the work of the Academic Council was found to be satisfactory.

Dmytro Uzhchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, spoke about the competitive affairs. Thus, by secret ballot, 11 people were elected to positions that would be vacant from July 1, 2019. In particular, N. S. Kurylo was elected the Director of the Regional Center for Vocational Education of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The Academic Council reviewed the draft work plan for the academic year 2019 – 2020. In the discussion of issues proposed for consideration, the Acting Head of the Educational Department Valentyna Lesnova and the head of the Department of Public Service and Management of Educational and Social Institutions Yevhen Hrykov took part. The work plan was taken as a basis; it was decided to finalize it based on the comments.

The issue concerning the approving the University’s Development Strategy for 2019-2025 caused a lively discussion among members of the Academic Council. The Academic Council decided to adopt it as a basis in the first reading and take into account the specific proposals that will be received during July – August of the current year.

Among miscellanea, scientific and educational-methodical works were traditionally recommended for publication, theses for the degree of Doctor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy were approved. By the decision of the Academic Council, the name of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Human Health was changed to the Department of Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy and Human Health. The Academic Council unanimously supported the candidacy of the Professor Leionid Vakhovskyi for appointment to the post of Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work.
