Presentation of certificates

On May 16, a solemn ceremony of awarding certificates to graduates of the English courses of the Access Microscholarship Program was held at the IRC “Window on America” of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Pupils of the district’s schools together with the teacher of the Oriental Languages Department and program coordinator Oksana Husakova have been studying English for two years. They also learned about the American culture and traditions.
On this day, the Attache on Teaching English, John Silver, and his assistant Alyona Sukhinina presented certificates to 22 senior pupils, including pupils of the Starobilsk Gymnasium, Starobilsk Secondary School for levels II-III No. 2, Starobilsk Secondary School for Levels I-III No. 3, Starobilsk Secondary School for Levels II-III No. 4, Kalmykovska Secondary School, College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and Starobelsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College. Volodymyr Moroz, chairman of the University’s Primary Trade Union Organization; Natalya Kvitka, journalist of the newspaper “Vestnik of Starobilsk District”; Natalia Gupal, chief specialist of the Education Department; representative of the Diieva Hromada” public organization, parents of students were also invited to the event. They all collaborated with the Access team for two years and helped to implement projects for pupils.
At the beginning of the event, John Silver and Alona Sukhinina talked to the pupils, they learned their plans for the future. Then the floor was given to the students who prepared the entertainment program for guests in advance, poems, thanks and songs, as well as a graduate of the program Margarita Starikova painted portraits of the organizers, which was a pleasant surprise for them.
The event ended with the delivery of certificates and gifts and a holiday cake for everyone. Representatives of the United States in Ukraine noted that their cooperation with pupils did not end there. From now on, all pupils are considered to be official graduates of programs sponsored by the US Embassy and subsequently can participate in exchange and training programs.
Let us remind that the official opening of the program in Starobilsk took place on October 3, 2017. Until the end of May, classes will be held as usual, twice a week, and already in June, all graduates of the program will have a rest in a summer camp in Sloviansk. Today, 430 students from all over Ukraine are studying in the Access program. All events are sponsored by the US Embassy in Ukraine.
