Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University traditionally took part in a meeting on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the 74th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism in World War II.
On May 9, students, teachers and university staff took part in a meeting on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the 74th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism in World War II. In the morning, the team of our University went in a solemn procession to the Memorial of Glory.
Veterans of the Second World War, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as delegations of institutions, labor collectives, residents and guests of the Starobilsk district gathered at the Memorial. The commemoration of the memory began with a minute of silence for the defenders who were killed at the front. After the congratulations of the head of the Starobilsk District State Administration Anatolii Garkavyi and the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Vitalii Kurylo, a solemn laying of flowers to the Eternal Flame and memorable signs took place.
The memory of those who gave their lives in the war is timeless like love for the motherland. The duty of the current generations is to be worthy successors of the winners’ affairs, who have torn out the country from the clutches of the Nazis, saved it and kept it beautiful and flourishing. Every year, May 9 holiday will serve as a reminder – there is no greater value than the joy of living on a free land!
