Theatrical Festival
6.5.2019
The Faculty of Foreign Languages, for the second year after the four years of the break, continues the tradition of the theatrical festival “Magic Paints”.
Conducting such festivals is a tradition of leading universities in Europe and the United States. The founder of the festival “Magic colors” is the Department of Oriental Languages. The first theatrical festival was held in March 2009. Over the next five years, the festival, revealing an extremely bright palette of cultures of different peoples of the world in different theatrical genres, was held annually until 2014.
In the program of the festival, which took place in Poltava in May 2019, there were performances in oriental languages using national costumes, dances and songs.
The festival’s guests were presented with “Alice in Wonderland” in Chinese and a Japanese sketch. The festival was attended by graduates from Poltava schools. Foreign guests were also present – Associate Professor Irfan Tosunjoglou from the University of Karabuk, Turkey, and Master’s student from China Jaylee Wu and foreign students who were “cultural informants.”
The main goal of the festival is to promote oriental languages among students, to expand and deepen knowledge about the cultures of the eastern countries, as well as to form and strengthen the positive image of the students as talented and creative youth. Performances contain elements of different cultures, namely: national costumes, choreography, songs, artifacts. The actors are students and teachers of the department. They themselves carry out the translation and processing of works.
