Honoring the memory of the dead

The fourth-year students majoring in “Social Work” commemorated those who perished in the Chernobyl disaster.

At the Starobilsk Youth Library was held an event “Chernobyl has no Past Tense”. The event was held in order to honor the liquidators, expand the knowledge of young people about the Chernobyl tragedy, the liquidators who saved the nuclear power plant, foster a sense of respect and memory for the tragic pages of the history of Ukraine. The event was attended by fourth-year students majoring in “Social Work” (Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences). Documentary film, photo materials, and thematic exhibition moved the audience 33 years into the past.

The participants of the event listened to a lecture about firefighters who were the first to enter the line of fire and received a lethal dose of radiation. The librarians introduced the literature at the book exhibition and recommended reading fiction about the terrible events of 1986.

Chernobyl disaster will long remain in our memory. For a long time, we will feel its consequences on ourselves, for a long time we will hear its bells. They will sound for those who no longer exist, who will not be tomorrow, who paid with their health and life for someone’s mistakes.
