“Luhansk Region: Local History Intelligence”

The Luhansk Regional Organization of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine holds the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Luhansk Region: Local History Intelligence” for the third year in a row.

The event took place on April 19 on the basis of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The main organizers were the Luhansk Regional Organization of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the Department of Historical Heritage of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

The conference, which aims to revive regional studies after the outbreak of armed conflict in Donbas 2014 and promote scientific exchange between scientists who are interested in the history of the Luhansk region, has significantly increased its academic level. This is evidenced, in particular, by the expansion of the geography of the participants, their status and authority in the field of Ukrainian regional studies and other social sciences. The conference was attended by leading scientists from the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, their colleagues from other regions of Ukraine, local historians known in the Luhansk region, museum masters, secondary school teachers, literary scholars and speakers who are in love with the history of their region.

The solemn event was opened by People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Luhansk Regional Organization of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine, Vitalii Kurylo, who focused his report on highlighting the main tasks that Luhansk local historians are facing today. Among the priorities of further studies of local lore research, according to the speaker, is the formation of an objective and scientifically based picture of the historical development of Luhansk region, as one of the key regions of Ukraine. A similar point of view was also expressed by the Ph.D., Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Serhii Savchenko, and the Director of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences A.V. Bader.

The results of scientific research in the field of regional studies were presented in their reports by Dr. of Sociology, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology I. F. Kononov; Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine A. V. Naboka; Ph.D. Ph.D., Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications, Leading Specialist of the Department T. S. Pinchuk; Specialist of the Historical Flatness Section of the Ukrainian Railways of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department of “Ukrzaliznytsia” M. Yu. Ruban, a well-known Luhansk regional specialist and etc.

The pupil and student section was also quite presentable. The most of student reports were prepared with the help of the scientific management of Ph.D., associate professor of the Department of History of Ukraine and Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science and Jurisprudence A.I. Bublik, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Conference papers will soon be published in the same book.

Summing up the conference, we can talk about the gradual revival of Luhansk regional studies, the process of which, according to the organizers of the conference, will continue.
