Information meeting

An information meeting on the mediation of students of the IEB and volunteers of the Center of Mediation was held on the basis of COWORKING CENTER of LTSNU.
The third-year students majoring in Psychology of the ER IPP Anastasia Piltenko and Oksana Palaguta told the students about the concept of “mediation” in the modern world. Mediation is a non-formalized, but clearly structured procedure for resolving conflict involving a neutral mediator (mediator) who supports the parties in securing a mutually beneficial solution. Mediation is voluntary, not binding: the parties can, at their own request, stop the mediation or continue it. One of the conditions of mediation is its confidentiality: everything that happens during mediation remains secret. Mediation as a way to resolve a dispute, focused primarily on the interests of the parties: finding a solution is not limited solely to the legal subject of the dispute, it covers a wide range of issues related to the economic, financial or personal interests of the parties.
The scope of mediation is not limited to a certain type of conflict; its implementation is possible in any disputes. One of the main advantages of mediation lies in the fact that the parties agree among themselves, the issues, above all, of an economic and productive nature, and to what extent they want to discuss. The mediation procedure is flexible and informal; therefore, it is easy to adjust to the needs of the parties.
Anastasia Piltenko and Oksana Palaguta conducted two practical games with students. The students of the Institute of Economy and Business considered and solved various conflict situations, learned to negotiate with each other. The decision of the students allowed them to solve the tasks without conflict.
Despite its advantages, mediation is not a universal method of conflict resolution. For example, mediation is impossible on disputes, the solution of which requires the creation of a precedent, and in cases where one of the parties seeks public rehabilitation or requires an independent legal assessment of the dispute.
Thanks to Anastasia Piltenko and Oksana Palagute for this interesting and useful meeting!
