Volunteer activities of the IPP

Volunteers of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology were involved in the work of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine.

Students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, starting in 2014, provide work for all international and domestic organizations established in the city of Starobilsk and other places of the Luhansk region, on a voluntary basis. The best students, these organizations are invited to work. We are talking about organizations such as the SOS Children’s Village International Charitable Foundation, the Mercy-Luhansk International Charitable Foundation, and others.

Recently, a student of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, Kristana Shablakova, was appointed coordinator of psychosocial support for the Starobilsk Regional Department of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine. Kristana also attracted other students of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology to volunteering.

Now the Red Cross Society of Ukraine is doing everything possible to improve the lives of vulnerable people affected by the military situation in Ukraine. This means not only the provision of humanitarian assistance, but also careful attention to the psychological and social needs that arise during and after crisis events. Since 2014, the Company has been implementing the “Psychosocial Support for Vulnerable Populations in Ukraine” (PSP) program.”

The main purpose of the PSP is to improve the level of psychosocial well-being among the population from the territories affected by the conflict, for their safety and greater emotional stability as a result of recovery, the formation of strategies for psychological adaptation and socialization after relocation / participation in hostilities, etc. The target audience is the vulnerable segments of the population, namely: internally displaced persons (IDPs), demobilized families, communities inhabited by HMO, vulnerable categories among the local population.

In addition to the students of our University, the Red Cross Society established partnerships with such educational institutions and organizations as the Maksym Gorky Regional Universal Scientific Library, Starobilsk Medical Lyceum, Starobilsk Vocational and Technical Lyceum, Starobilsk Methodical Cabinet, inclusive resource center of the city of Starobilsk, department of social rehabilitation of children with disabilities and children at risk KU “Tercenter” in the city of Starobilsk, Charitable Foundation “Mercy-Lugansk”.

Our volunteers have already held 28 different events, trainings, master classes for 205 unique beneficiaries of various categories, and also attended training on first psychological aid in the city of Severodonetsk and held a master class for other RCSU employees in Kyiv.

Psychosocial assistance to vulnerable categories of the population is not only the actual help in solving people’s problems, but also the improvement of professionally important knowledge and skills for future specialists in the social, educational and psychological spheres.
